A word about me and what
I do:
After
graduating from Orange High School in Orange California, I entered the US
Navy where I served as an Interior Communications Electrician. so naturally
when I got out I was best suited to be an Electrician but I wanted to be a
Draftsman. Collins Radio, at the time needed draftsmen so bad that they
started their own school, I applied was accepted and after completing the
course was hired. I was one of three out of three-thousand who applied.
After beginning my career in 1966 as a Detail Draftsman and holding various
positions over the next nineteen years (including Engineering Services
Manger), I was ready to pursue my life long dream of being an Architect.
So I went to
school (Orange Coast College) to see if I had what it would take, I made the
Presidents list and was awarded two
Scholarships. I felt that I could do
it and applied, and was accepted, to Cal Poly Pomona but found it was hard
to support a family and go to school at the same time, so I decided to work
my way thru the requirements for a license (in California you do not need a
degree, a combination of education and work experience is accepted). I
studied and took the
NCARB
Architectural
Registration Exam passing all nine sections. However, after failing to pass
the Oral Exam (California's Architectural Supplemental Exam) three times, I
am still not a Licensed Architect, maybe I'll return to school and complete
my dream.
After retiring
in 2006 I have been doing some odd jobs mainly for family.
I love Architecture, all phases of it, and will do almost any thing to be
part of
doing something in
Architecture. So I decided to form a Contract Drafting Business. This
is the
second time I have done so, the first being back in
1988-1996 and did quite well until I needed
to work full time for a Licensed Architect to qualify for the California
ARE. In my business I would/will do field measurements, prepare background
drawings for the Architect to begin the Design Development, prepare the
Construction Drawings, incorporate red lines, help with the costing, code research and pick-up and
deliver drawings to consultants, clients and building departments. I would
work either from my home or the clients office. This time You can expect me
to be able to do
the same things.
If I can be of
service to your firm in any way, do not hesitate to contact me for a free
quote.
Meanwhile, I'll
continue to work on my new pet project, converting "Catalog Homes" of the
'20s in to present day code compliance while learning "Revit Architecture".
